Bonbonniere Marbella: What the Old Olivia Valere Is Like Now
· Updated:
For years, if someone in Marbella said they were going to Olivia Valere, you knew the place: the Moorish-style club on the Istán road, above the Golden Mile. In 2026 that building became Bonbonniere. Same address, new name, new operator and a very different sound. Here's what changed, what stayed and what a night there is like. It's a summer club and it's closed now; the 2027 opening date hasn't been announced.
From Olivia Valere to Bonbonniere
Olivia Valere ran as a nightclub in this building until 2025. The property was then leased to Mandala Group for 2026 to 2036, and the Bonbonniere brand was created by Joe Fournier. According to Vinetur, the refurbishment cost more than €15 million and covers 2,150 m². The good news for anyone who knew the old club is that they didn't gut it: the Moorish structure stays, the circular mosaic floor was restored with the old Olivia Valere symbol still in it, and the blue stained-glass window was kept.
The Olivia Valere name hasn't disappeared completely. The restaurant next door, LØV Olivia Valere, the former Babylonia Palace with 350 covers, carries on with its own separate entrance. Andalucia.com says the restaurant side also opens on winter weekends, while the club is summer only.
What it's like inside
Bonbonniere sells itself as tech house and exclusive design, with the tagline Not for everyone. That sums up the new direction: a design-led room built around electronic music and big DJ names. There's an indoor club and a terrace. The terrace opens earlier, from 22:00, and the club runs from 23:30 to 06:00 according to andalucia.com's hours, which also says midnight to six in its text. In other words, it's a late night.
The 2026 opening season
- 12 June 2026: the terrace opened with Claptone.
- 2 July 2026: grand opening with the indoor club, with Diplo.
- Opening weeks also brought Seth Troxler, Notre Dame, Cordiki and Marco Carola.
- Season: summer only, with the nightclub open from June to September.
If those names mean something to you, you'll get the idea. If they don't: think DJ-led nights where people come for the set, not for a playlist of hits.

Dress code and the door
The dress code is smart-chic, and andalucia.com lists what isn't allowed: beachwear, swimwear, hats, caps, sandals and flip-flops. Medium and large bags get left at reception, so travel light. Dress like you're going to a good dinner, not coming from the pool, and you'll be fine. Smart-chic leaves room for personality, so a sharp shirt or a statement dress works better here than a plain safe outfit.
Prices and where it is
As published by andalucia.com for summer 2026, tickets were around €30 to €60 and VIP from around €150. Expect 2027 to have its own pricing, especially on big-name nights. The address is Ctra. de Istán (A-7176), km 0.8, just up from the Golden Mile near the Marbella Mosque. It's an easy taxi from Puerto Banús or Marbella centre, and the taxi is the sensible way home at six.
Who it's for
Bonbonniere suits people who go out for the DJ. If you'd travel for a Marco Carola or Seth Troxler set, this is your room in Marbella. It also suits anyone curious to see what became of Olivia Valere, because the building is still the star, arches, mosaic and stained glass included. It suits you less if you want reggaeton and chart hits, or a quick drink before bed: with the terrace from 22:00 and the club running until six, it's built for a long night.
- Check the line-up for your date, since prices and timings follow the artist.
- Travel light: medium and large bags stay at reception.
- No caps, hats, sandals or flip-flops, so plan the outfit before you leave the hotel.
- On busy August nights, sort out your taxi home before the last set ends.
Closed now: where to go this winter
Bonbonniere is a June-to-September club, so it's dark until next summer. If you're after electronic music on the Golden Mile in the meantime, Momento is open, and TIBU in Puerto Banús runs all year.
