Ocean Club Marbella: What a Day at the Pool Club Is Like
· Updated:
Ocean Club is the Puerto Banús answer to the beach-club question. Instead of building the day around the sea, it builds it around a large saltwater pool, with sunbeds all round it and a restaurant on the side. If you're staying near the port and want a day of sun that slowly turns into a party, it's one of the obvious names. It's a summer venue, though, so before anything else, here's where things stand this October.
Is Ocean Club open now?
Treat it as closed for the year. Ocean Club runs on a summer season and doesn't publish its opening and closing dates in advance, so there's no confirmed date for 2027 yet. If you're in Marbella this autumn or winter, plan your nights elsewhere and keep Ocean Club for next summer. When the dates do come out, weekends and the big party days are the first things to go.
What a day there is like
The pool is the centre of everything. It's saltwater and it's big, and the sunbeds are laid out around it: extra-large ones with waiter service, so you're not queuing at a bar in your swimwear. Early afternoon is relaxed. The DJs play slower daytime sets, people swim, eat and settle in. As the hours go by the music builds and the mood shifts from lounging to dancing, still by the pool and still in daylight.
On party days Ocean Club goes further, with themed events that bring in live music, dancers and entertainers. Those are the days with the most energy and the highest demand, so if you're going for the show rather than the sunbed, pick a party date and book early.

Eating at Amaï
Ocean Club has its own restaurant, Amaï, so there's no need to leave for lunch. For a lot of groups the plan is simple: arrive, eat, then move to the sunbeds as the music picks up. If someone in your group is less keen on the party side, a long lunch at the restaurant is a good way to share the day without being in the middle of the pool all afternoon.
Who it suits
- Groups staying in or near Puerto Banús who want a day out without a long transfer.
- People who prefer a pool to the sea: no sand, clear water and everything a few steps away.
- Celebrations, from birthdays to stag and hen groups that want daytime partying with a show.
- Anyone who likes the day to build slowly rather than start at full volume.
If you want a quiet spot and a book, Ocean Club on a summer weekend isn't it. It's a social place by design, and it gets busy.
What to book
| Option | What you get | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Sunbed by the pool | Extra-large bed with waiter service | Couples and small groups, a full afternoon |
| Table at Amaï | Lunch, then stay on | A calmer start, mixed groups |
| Themed party day | Live music, dancers, entertainers | Celebrations; book furthest ahead |
Ocean Club doesn't publish fixed sunbed prices that we can quote here, and what you pay changes with the day, the position of the bed and the event. Ask before you go so there are no surprises when the bill arrives.
How to get there
Ocean Club is at Avda. Lola Flores s/n, 29660 Nueva Andalucía, in the Puerto Banús area of Marbella. If you're staying around the port, you're already close. From the Golden Mile or Marbella town, a taxi is the easy option, and the sensible one if the afternoon involves bottles. The roads around Banús get busy on summer weekends, so leave some margin if you have a booking time.
What to wear
Ocean Club doesn't publish a strict dress code. The usual Marbella pool-club look works: swimwear on the sunbed, a shirt, kaftan or dress for lunch, and sandals. People dress up more for themed party days, so check the theme and play along if you want to fit in. Bring sunscreen, because most of the day is spent in full sun.

Our honest take
Ocean Club is a big, polished pool club rather than a beach shack, and it's at its best when it's full. The pool, the waiter service and the way the music builds make for an easy day, and the party dates add the show. If you're near Puerto Banús next summer, it's a strong pick. Just don't expect it to be open in October.
In Marbella this autumn?
The pool clubs have closed, but Puerto Banús still has its nights. Newscafé, on the front line of the port, opens seven nights a week, and TIBU on Plaza Antonio Banderas is open every night, with an indoor club, a big terrace and a restaurant.
